MPTC CONCEALED CARRY / BACK UP GUN QUALIFICATION COURSE APPROVED
The Firearms Training Advisory Committee has reviewed and approved a Concealed Carry / Back Up Gun qualification course of fire. This course of fire is strictly for concealed carry small handguns. This program does NOT supercede the MPTC Pistol Qualification course and shall not be used in lieu of it with municipal police officers. It should augment the standard course of fire for those officers who carry concealed (detectives, etc.) and those officers who carry a back up gun while on uniformed patrol. Many thanks to Officer Mark Belliveau of New Braintree PD for creating this course of fire. Since this course is approved by the MPTC as a 'qualification course', it meets the federal requirements for the Law Enforcement Officer's Safety Act as revised in Oct. 2010.

2013 ONLINE TRAINING
Starting this year every instructor who recertifies will need to complete the 'online' Distance Learning component of the training. This module takes the place of the classroom session we used to do before going out on to the range and is good for four hours of training credit. Instructors will need to log on at the MPTC e-Learning website and complete the Distance Learning module PRIOR to going to the range. This module is currently under construction and more details will be published here as they become available. Please check back frequently for updates. The scheduled implementation date is currently 1 April.
100% ROUND ACCOUNTABILITY FOR VETERAN OFFICERS (IN SERVICE RE-QUALIFICATION)
Effective 1 January 2012 officers requalifying at the department level will need to meet the 100% Round Accountability requirement. All the officer's rounds must hit the target paper to be "accounted for". Rounds observed to strike off the paper will require a reshoot of that stage. Instructors are urged to use common sense when scoring a large ragged hole where the number of individual hits cannot be readily determined. Scoring aids can be found in the Range Manual and on the Distance Learning module.
